TTFL Frequently Asked Questions |
What is the TTFL?
The Toronto Touch Football League has been in existence for more than
10 years providing touch football players in Toronto with a competitive,
yet fun league.
Where are the TTFL Fields?
TTFL fields are currently located at Skymark Park, at the northwest corner
of Finch Avenue and Don Mills Road and at Milliken Mills High School,
located on Kennedy Road, south of 14th Avenue. We are currently looking
to expand and are checking out several additional locations.
When does the TTFL season run?
The league starts each year in the spring, usually in late April or early
May. It continues through the summer and into September.
Games are played on Sunday afternoons and evenings. There are no games
on long weekends and there are no league games on weekends when Touch
Football Ontario runs tournaments, which occur on average about one weekend
each month. Most teams enter some or all of these tournaments, however
there are some teams that are league only teams and do not play tournaments.
What is the cost per player?
The cost to play touch football is very reasonable. Individual team managers
set the player fees, so it’s important to check with your coach
or manager on specific costs. In general, however, individual team managers
pay team fees to the league and raise these funds in a variety of ways
including player fees, sponsorships and fund raisers. Player fees to play
in the league are usually around $100 per season, but they can be more
or less depending on the situation. The manager pays a team fee to the
league to cover referees, field permits and administration. In addition,
there are the costs of uniforms and equipment and a per player registration
fee to Touch Football Ontario, the provincial organization governing touch
football in this province.
What equipment do players need?
The only equipment needed is a pair of football cleats and shorts, t-shirts,
etc.
Who is eligible to play?
Men and women who are 18 years of age and older and who have signed a
Touch Football Ontario registration form. If you’re younger than
18 you need parental consent. Most players range in age from their 20s
to their 30s, 40s and even their 50s.
How Do I Get On A Team?
Contact the league executive through the Contact Us section of our web
site and we’ll hook you up with a team at your level of play. Teams
are always looking for new players.
What levels of play exist?
The TTFL has both men’s and women’s divisions. In 2002, the
league had Tier 1 and Tier 11 levels of play in both men’s and women’s
touch football.
Does the league have a banquet?
Yes, starting in 2002 the TTFL began holding an annual awards banquet
at the end of the season. There are awards, door prizes, good food and
drink and plenty of fun. Please, plan to attend.
